Unhappy Rider Down.

Well I had a very late night tonight, and was witness to a unfortunate incident just after Westheimer and Kirby. On my way home and there is a man ridding a Red FZ6 with no gear and only gloves. Long story short is he looked like he tried to avoid getting hit by a car (Vett, didn't get the plate) and lost it doing about 40. Bike spun about 50 meters or so, and the guy just hit the ground and stayed there. I got off my bike to help, he had a massive skull fracture and a compound fracture on his right shin. I saw a cop in the Downing Street Pub parking lot so I got back on my bike and hurried for his assistance, nice guy too. I gave him the low down as to what happened, and so did the others that saw everything. They said the guy was going to make it, but he was f'd up pretty bad. How hard is it to wear a helmet? This is getting really out of hand here. I'm almost scared to ride on the streets now, I already lost my friend Steve.

Folks please take care out there, dress for the fall not the ride. Life is to short.

Agreed... Wish for a speedy recovery and if he should return to the bike a lesson learned the hard way.

Sucks to hear things like this. Hope he pulls through this alright with as little complications as he can and gets to learn from it.

There are just some that you will not be able to get the point across to and they have to learn the hard way. Hopefully those who do, actually get to learn from it and get to ride another day.

Glad to hear that he is going to make it.

Sux having to witness that, good thing is he might make it, gear up people!

I actually recieved a call last night that a rider went down on 45 going south to Galveston for a ride with about 20 other riders with whom he was meeting up. He didnt make it thou :( Seems a van cut him off/ bumped him right into an 18wheeler that ran him over, he was rushed to herman memorial hospital. Not sure of outcome, and no I didnt know him just the guy who called to tell me and he didnt know who it was either.

When ur riding, have an exit, dont ride in blind spots or next to big rigs, take the saftey course out there people and listen to what they try to teach you!!

I just get so frustrated with people not wearing helmets. I really think there should be a law for sportbike riders to wear helmets. You would think the state would want more bodies alive so they can pay taxes.
