q: about a bike i saw a while back

i was at cycle shack north some time ago (at the old location on s frasier) and a kid on a red suzuki was there, too. initially i thought he had an sv650s, but the engine was bigger than mine, and he also didnt know what my bike was.
i really loved the sound of his bike when he left, so i tried to find answers online as to what it was.
my next thought was that it was a tl1000r. on the pre-2000 models the frame is pretty similar to my 1st gen sv650, and the tail is different, a little.
im certain though that his frame was the same as mine, but also that it wasnt an sv650s. i dont think there were sv1000's that used the same tube frame as the 1st gen sv650's.

anyone have any idea?
i've been scratching my chin about this bike for too long. hopefully this guy is on mh and i can see his awesome bike again.
dude, i've got the hots for your bike. and also i want one.
