I tried to find a link, but the XGames website kind of sucks slightly. I am watching now, and they said he qualified last. I guess in the competition is better than nothing. I'm searching for a link though... give me a sec.

Nicky Hayden spectator, not racing. Apparently, he injured his ankle and called it a weekend.

I watched it yesterday, nothing exciting IMHO, The usual suspect dominated. IMHO, Nicky just didn't have it in the dirt, and the course was mainly dirt. I thought too much dirt really. All of the pavement was slower stuff, thus not effecting the lap times as much. You could lose a lot of time in the dirt on that course.

Nicky never raced. He just chickened out and never even made it to the starting line with his TLD Honda.

You're right Moe, he chickened out and was scared to race there. The information about his injured ankle was all propaganda.

Why in the world would a multi-million dollar rider sacrifice that in order to compete in a race just for fun?

I'm not sure how a superstar motorcycle road-racer like Nicky Hayden chickens out doing soemthing he only wanted to do for fun. I'm also sure he wanted to risk his 6-figure salary for a $3500 purse.

That's what racer's do. They show up and do what they do best - which is race. If they were afraid of injuries or holding back (anything), then they would be mere mortals club racing like you & me.

He's a MotoGP racer, and you can't get to a higher level then that - to go on press and ask Honda for a ride for a SuperMoto event in his hometown is what he did. Then he backed out of it. Not so "superstar" like in my opinion.

We just had a racer leave us for good (RIP Jonesy), he died doing what he did best and what he loved the most. To die at his peak - is coz he never held back, that's why he's racing at the level he is. Again mere mortals like you and I will probably not see that level of racing.

Every now and then racers get a wild card ride or oppurtunity, they take it and they give it their full. Sometimes they surprise the world (like Troy Bayliss filing in for injured Sete Gibernau in 2006 and coming in 1st!), sometimes they don't.

Again if Hayden's a MotoGP racer and did'nt get "asked" to ride, but rather "wanted to ride" - only to back out - in my opinion......................

Feel free to bash me all you want - it is what it is.

Fixed, because your opinion isn't "what it is" in reality.

Why do you have such a hard-on for Americans in MotoGP and AMA? Your narrow focus and knowledge of the sport is boggling.

You accuse Spies of making excuses for a "poor finish", which was actually a huge accomplishment, especially under the circumstances. Now, you accuse Hayden of "chickening out" of something after an injury?

I imagine you would rather go ahead and race with an injury huh? That would be brilliant, then, you could show up at the next MotoGP event and lose your job

Genius.

Despite his dismal season thus far, Nicky has done wonders developing that bike and especially the new engine. It takes real talent to develop these bikes, that's why Rossi has been so successful. That's also the reason that Honda has been playing catch-up in their development since he left!

I don't think that will happen though, I'd bet that he'd go to a satellite Honda team first.

My guess is:

You'd still root for "Dingo"!
