Need Help With Lien

I sold my 250 to Heytalktoryan about 2 weeks ago

But the guy i talked to over the phone said that i needed to send in the money from the bike and he would take off the lien and allow the buyer to switch the title over to their name at the dmv immediately, knowing i was going to finish paying the bike off next month...and i even asked to make sure.

I just got off the phone with the guy just now and went to ask about registration stickers and what not and now hes saying that i need to pay off the lien first...

so is there anything i can do? i dont want to be the bad guy and seem shady but i was only doing what the guy told me to do and now hes completely changed the stuff!!

how much do you owe left on the 250?

to register a bike you dont need it in your name you only need insurance on the bike so he can do that lien or not.

who is "the guy you talked on the phone"? the bank you bought the bike from originally?

if you are going to finish paying the bike off next month I would just go ahead and mail them a check if you have the cash since you were going to anyway.

hope that helps.

No. Go pay it off and get him the title. Whether or not you were misinformed the deal is screwed up on your end and you owe it to the buyer to come through in a timely manner.

no, he has to have the title. he can't do anything while there is still a lien on it because technically it's the bank's bike right now.

you sold a bike with a lein on it? and now you expect the lein holder to just go ahead and assume responsibility for financing someone you found, w/o his prior approval? He doesnt have to sign over the bike if it isnt paid for, simple and clear to understand. and he doesnt have to approve the new guy buying the bike, plainly, you screwed up and the new buyer screwed up for even remotely thinking it was going to be a smooth transaction.

Pretty sure you got it wrong there Tim. The guy buying the bike paid cash, he isn't trying to get financed on it at all. Dreamer has a lien on the bike so he needs to take the cash that the buyer paid him and give it to the bank to pay off the raminder of what he owes on the bike. Then, the bank will give him the title since it's legally his bike now. Once he has the title he will send it to the buyer. Not saying it's not still risky, but it's not what you were saying.

clear as a bell now, the new buyer should be taken care of or refunded, but since its a cash deal, the seller can easily, as you said, grab the title and make things happy for all involved.
