Way too much $$$, just wait till you get home & get him a used one. I have one for each of my sons (50'S) & only paid $500 & $550.

No need to register it for a mini/kid bike.

Good luck.

My son is 7. He's started on a PW50 when he was 5 and I just bought him a CRF50. I think the CRF50 is plenty of bike for a 7 year old unless they're an advanced rider/racer. I got the '05 for $600.

HONDA is the only brand dirtbike i would buy . The 70 is also a good bike . I think that a 70 for a 7 year old would be a little big , but he could grow into it .

i was leaning towards the honda knowing they are bullet proof but the 70 is the same height just a little heavier and a little more power which like you said he can grow into it and get a little more use out of it!

I bought a Honda but I'm sure that any of the name brand 50's will be ok (Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda). I'd stay away from the Chinese stuff. I bought it from an individual. Craiglist, I think.

We have an '03 xr50 & an 07 ttr50, both are great bikes (basically the same bike but the yamaha has e-start). Do yourself a favor; disregard the silly "honda FTW" bullshit & buy whatever major brand you get a good deal on, your kid wont give a either way & none is particularly better than the other when properly taken care of.
