So maybe it's finally time for a cell phone ban while driving? Heck a headset is only $30 these days.
That chit will NEVER happen. When was the last time you saw any law enforcement officer without a fuggin cell stuck to the side of their head?! Now don't get me wrong I think there must have been more to the grand jury's opinion, if not then there is something seriously wrong with that judge and we might have to call Chief-Slap-A-Hoe in on the case.

Sorry, built in Bluetooth hands free in the car .. I bet there's plenty of people here talking on the phone .. but yes, if it's not enforced it doesn't do much. Heck the cop next to me didn't even bother to get after the bus that ran the red light right in front of us

I look at this as if the poor moto cop were anyone else standing 2 feet from traffic. Time to time, somebody's gonna swerve out of there lane a little bit being distracted. Happens to everyone.

Officers should be aware of their surroundings. Anyone standing on the side of a highway should. Bet your I'll look at each passing car if I'm 2 feet off the road. Seems to me drivers should be instructed to exit busy roadways before being issued citations. Safer for everyone.

I feel for both of these guys. Killing or being killed, always takes it's toll.

He was sentenced to six months' deferred adjudication, three days in jail, a $500 fine and 80 hours of community service.

. That sounds like something a kid who stole something from Walgreens would get.

He was probably not following proceedure if he was on the traffic side of the road when he was hit. You watch DPS troopers. They will go on the passenger side if there isn't enough room. If you have been on the Westpark tollway, you know it isn't wide. He could have told them to take the next exit for safety. So the role is 2 fold. Why not arrest the person speeding that put him into the situation?

HOLY SH%T.... WTF. Motorcycles dont get any respect this is BS!
An eye for an eye. When is the court date on the lady that murdered the rider in Willis? We need to sit in on that trail and let everyone know that motorcyclist have family memebers too! We need to organize something to get a message across.
THIS BS

i talk on my phone in the car occasionally, but the second i hear a siren i am looking all around to find out where it's coming from so i can get out of the way of it. or if i'm driving, on the cell or not, and i see a cop with a car pulled over on the side of the road i ALWAYS slow down and move a lane over if there is one available. if it's a one lane road i go SLOW. nothing get my attention more than a light bar when i'm driving my car. nothing.

i don't understand how a sober person can hit a cop standing on the side of the road next to a pulled over car when he's got a POLICE CAR in front of him and flashing lights. how do you NOT see flashing lights???

this is a pathetic example of our justice system. this guy has to pay 500 bux, and mow lawns for a few months and promise to not get in trouble for 6 months in exchange for the life of a police officer who was doing his job. disgusting.

i bet when this case went to court, the one right before this one was some kid who got put in jail for smoking pot.

+1

I'll place my bets that almost all those on the Grand Jury thought twice about how they do the same (talk and drive). Whether often, seldom, or rarely... I'm sure some of them thought it could just as well had been them behind that wheel.

cell phone or not, i see cop cars with their lights flashing. , there's no scenario when i DON'T have my full attention on a cop car with the lights on top flashing.

cell phone, hot girl in the passenger seat giving road head, drunk, doesn't matter. I SEE THE FLASHING LIGHTS. they kinda stand out from everything else under any circumstance.

distracted by a cell phone is a weak excuse.
