Yeahhh....!!! Of course I remember those days.

Here I am (6th from left to right) with the HSN (Houston Sportbike Network) crowd in the Coast Ride. Lake jackson, TX, circa earlier 2001 and those prices were higher than in Houston.

I remember... my girlfriend's dad took off the catalytic converter so her Samurai could take 'leaded' gas. And my first car took leaded gas, too.

I didn't know what "cheap" gas was until I moved back to the US in 2001. I moved to Japan in 1993 and lived there till 2001. Out in town 95 octane (rated 100 RON in Japan) was about $4.15 a gallon or so depending on the Yen rate. The crappy part was that they charged about the same for gas on base and it wasn't nearly as good a quality (plus I think they only put 93 max on base). But buying smokes there was nice as we bought cartons for about $12 on base. It was a big deal because people were black marketing stuff from on base. Ah the good old days.

I remember when they switched to "unleaded". Gas was $.50 and cigs were about $.75 a pack.
