Where to get your carbs cleaned?

I live on the south side of houston and need to get the carbs cleaned on a YZF600r. I think I got a batch of bad gas and its not idleing right and I believe its the pilot screw which is messing it up. I need to know a good place/person and how much it might run me?

Motorcycles Unlimited. Check the site sponsor's section.

A lot of times, a simple jet cleaning isn't good enough and the circuits need to be cleaned to make the bike run right.

Take it to Motorcycles Unlimited, they'll hook you up.

I've got everything you need to do this in my garage (have the same bike), but my schedule sucks right now. I would go with Motorcycles Unlimited as sugested.

Before tearing in to the carbs, I would first:
  • clean air filter
  • replace fuel filter
  • check/replace plugs
  • sync carbs
  • run a can of Seafoam through, split between two tanks of gas.

That list takes far less time.

It's a PITA to get the carbs off, open float bowls, drill out A/F caps, put throttle cables back on correctly, etc. I drilled my A/F caps on the bike, but I would not recommend it (gas leak anywhere nearby + spinning electric drill = fire).

I don't have time to help you tear in to things (other than maybe a carb sync), but I would be happy to take a quick look some evening. I'm in League City.

If you want a qualified mechanic to get this taken care of quickly, contact Motorcycles Unlimited.
