Parking Ticket

Just curious to know if anybody out there has had this experience.

I went to KFC on Nasa Rd. to grab something to eat for lunch on the bike. The parking lot was full and decided to park on the crosshatched are between two handicap areas. As I am finishing eating my food which is about ten minutes, I noticed Nassau Bay Police (near NASA) drive up and take a picture of my bike. I hurry up and throw away what I had left and went outside. The cop comes up to me and asks if this was my bike and I answer yes and tell him I was just inside for a short while and if he can give me a break. He ask for my license and goes back to his vehicle. I'm thinking he is doing a background check but decides to write me a ticket for "Park Blocking Handicapped Access". I was like what the !@#%. I come to find out the violation costs 260 dollars. He wrote the ticket like if I did a moving violation. You don't need my information only the bike information is necessary if it is a parking ticket.
What is your take or experience?

You can give your $ to the judge, or you can give it to your lawyer. Either way, somebody else is partying on your dime.

Nassau Bay LEOs can be very unfriendly...my wife lived there back when we were still dating....sorry to hear it man, just pay the fine and consider it an expensive lesson learned.

Not good for that price.

I think you are right. I was hoping for a better outcome though.

Nassau Bay Cops are the worst!! They have nothing to do and their jurisdiction is so small!! I got a ticket for one head light back in the day. Most just give warning but this guy was a .. !!! Next time park on the sidewalk!!!

Sidewalk is no different in fact can cost even more due to the fire department regulations.

Stay out of the spaces that are marked for handicap folks....just like I expect peeps to stay out of motorcycle parking with their cars....

Just what I think. I was about to say wait for Brian's response, but I see he beat me to the thread.

The large hatched areas are for some people getting out of vans with ramps and such. Stinks you got a ticket but you were parked illegally.

Thanks for sharing this...I have never parked in the hash stripes, but I have parked on the large sidewalk up against the building @ several stores & @ the mall before! (never knew it was illegal)
There are always other bikes parked up there as well! Just have been lucky, with no ticket, I guess!

Reason #2,437 why I love this board!
