well, I have ridden when the temperature is just above freezing point, take wind chill into consideration and you are well at mid twenties temperatures.
But of course that only happens for periods of 2 weeks at much so I don't mind dealing with it.

i live out in katy, but i work in the med center. i'd like to start riding to work but the thought still makes me nervous. right now i take westpark to 610. i guess taking the I-10 HOV in the morning to 610 wouldn't be so bad, but going back home during rush hours seems a bit crazy. anyone else ride this route and wanna tell me what its like?

I live in Katy as well and commute every day. It doesn't matter too much to me what the chance of rain is, as long as it isn't raining when I leave the house. I ride 11 miles to work at 290 and BW8.

I ride every day. (except today) I live near Westheimer and D Ashford and ride to the "Dirty-Berg" about 25 miles one way. It's not bad in the morning if I leave on time. The temperature is great and the cagers SUCK A$$! I ride FM 1093 onto the Westpark Tollway to FM 723 all the way in. The cagers drive like they have no job to get to but, it's worth it to me for the gas mileage. I got 42 mpg last tank and that's hauling booty on the WP Tollway. Lately the ride home kinda sucks due to the heat.
I tote my backpack with my clothes and change at work (Cycling is hard on the slacks and wrinkles my shirt). I use a net and strap it to the back of the bike so I don't wear the backpack.

Me too, I rarely drive the truck anymore but since it's paid off there's no reason to sell it

The commute is only 8 miles from the Galleria to downtown, but I take Allen Parkway both ways so I get a little twisty action everyday.

I am. I haven't filled my truck up in two weeks, and barring being out of town, that has never happened before. Seriously, $105 each week per fillup was getting old.

One thing though. Its a little scary sometimes driving over the Fred Hartman bridge. The wind sometimes bounces my head around like a bobble-head toy.

Btw: this is the bridge I'm talking about.
