Im planning on riding most of the time now since gas is still high. Only time i wont will be when it rains, im not used to riding in rain...

Commuting on a bike I think is dangerous and your risk of eating it go up big time. When you use a bike for work or going to work I think you let your guard down some and people commuting are such crappy agressive drivers. I say keep the bike for the weekend and buy a civic for commuting.

I DO ride the nighthawk. She's a trooper! And thanks to Patrick and the crew at Motorcycles Unlimited, she's able to take it- they help me keep her in great shape. I'm going to get more bike in Oct or Nov. Have to save up and pay cash!

I ride from Katy Fry rd to Gulf Gate area to go to work everyday. I dont have a car, but my and my girl work together. I just ride with her on rainy day. I love the early morning rides but a lot of close calls on the way home.

I ride every day except maybe a Saturday here or a Sunday there. Right now I hit school 4 days a week so that is an easy 200 or so miles a week right there and then work is another 25 or so miles per day 4-5 days a week.

No real stories, just lots of days dealing with the idiots on 288 and 288B going to and from school. During the normal semester all the squids ride to school. So I get to deal with those guys trying to show me how uber their super sport is by riding past me on one wheel while passing Richwood or Lake Jackson police and then them running when the light show starts. Good times I tell you.

100 plus miles round trip.
HOV most of the way and to all the other commuters dont follow to close to the car in front of you, give yourself some time to avoind obsticals in the road.
I dont follow close even in the HOV but I have been seeing alot of on the road.
4x4's, cars swerving for missed exits, and people swerving and locking up brakes to avoid accidents. O' and a truck had a blow out in front of me last Friday.

'ol dino is a workhorse - miss seeing her in dbuck's garage cuz he doesn't ride the street anymore now that she's gone

Ride as often as I can, but sometimes I go through three weather changes and backpacking a laptop makes that a bit challenging. Kind of a job security thing. Been through some pretty nasty thunderstorms and have only had to pull over twice(visor fogged up, so I opened it up - felt like I had my eyes open in a swimming pool doing 50). Going through the city is great on the GSXR, but once I get out on 288 or 90 I wish I had a cruiser, sometimes.

Freeport - 175 miles roundtrip

Dayton - 90 miles roundtrip

<---from N side Htown - for those without intuitive skills

i commute every workday, rain or shine. i prefer shine, but some of dolly's shower's felt really nice on the hot days.
i love commuting on my bike. whenever i need to get a fill up, i love it. one of the last pitstops i made, i got cussed at by a lady in a white truck because my fill up cost so little! so fun!

I ride to and from work everyday, about 15 miles each way.
Downtown traffic can be a pain. As someone else said, do NOT follow too close -- the car in front of you has good odds of doing a very sudden stop. I watch cars pull the sudden stop every day.

I do take the HOV both ways. That just makes hitting my exits easier.

Oh, and ziploc bags are your friends! Rain or not, someone hits their windshield cleaner -- and your face shield and any stuff you have on you gets wet.

I ride almost everyday on a 80 mile round trip. I take the HOV down 59 from the NE side. I'd much rather be in the HOV than the main lanes. They drive like over there and I don't have to worry so much about people swerving into my lane. I usually keep extra shoes and stuff in my desk. I need new rain gear though; I got soaked last week!

commutin

yeah. everyday, mam. i love houston traffic. u gotta b ready 4 anything every second. everyday i see somethin new. people takin notes, eatin, readin while drivin. furniture, animals, parts fallin off trucks. wooden pallets gettin run over by tractor trailers & shatterin into a million pieces. it's those late night rides round town that make it worth it, tho. It's bout 30 mi in 2 work, but it always seems 2 be 60 or 90 on the way home. . . everyday is my weekend when i'm on her. . .
