Commute on the bike daily?

I do. It's much cheaper than the truck on gas, and it's a nice ride in the early mornings (I drive downtown from 59 and 242 at 6AM).

If you've been commuting on your bike, please tell your stories.

i cut my ride into work almost in half on my bike. 25 min. down to ~15 or so. gas savings or not, that makes it worth it for me. just need to invest in some rain gear now... that or a rear fender.

Aw... I hear you about the fender- I just realized if the road is wet you're getting mud splatter all on your helmet and back.

60 miles round trip 5 or 6 days per week. Got rain gear, mesh gear, and a 1 pc. suit for cold weather. It's my stress reliever.

I ride a about 70 miles round trip- but I don't have any special gear. If it rains, I just get wet. I completely agree about the stress relief.

I don't ride in the HOV lane in the mornings, though. I don't like to feel trapped in there.

Does anybody ride the HOV everytime?

I ride about 50 miles roundtrip (Clear Lake to Midtown) and I ride as much as I can. When it rains and the radar makes me think I can make it I just chance getting wet. I don't have rain gear so I will get wet Oh, and I love the HOV b/c it means I don't have to sit in all that traffic and trust me 45 is a pain in the during rush hour. On top of that my commute times are during the heart of rush hour

Same for me- and bike parking is free, because I have a car pass. But in the car I have to park a quarter mile down the street.

I commute in rush hour, too, but 59 is nothing like 45.

I get to park in the garage when I'm on the bike instead of the uncovered employee lot

Yeah 45 sux during rush hour so the HOV is my friend....if I get bored I let the car ahead of me get out of site and I'll open her up

I ride in on Friday's when possible since it's a jeans day, but the work attire most days doesn't provide much protection for the legs and feet. I guess I could have a pair of throw down shoes for when I get to the office but I just haven't done that yet..

It's about a 50 mile round trip..

Are you doing all those miles on your Nighthawk, 250cc drum brakes and all? Dayum! Squoddy you need to get more bike before you get run over.
