Bike(s):
Yamaha Yzf600R

Bike started funny this morning?

I went to start up my bike this morning and it was really hard to start its been a week or two since ive ridden it cause of the rain and all and starting a 2nd job. The bike is a yamaha yzf600r I started it like normal set the choke and it took alil bit to start and when it was warming up it was sorta backfiring and running alil rough. I took off down the street to see if i could blow out the carbs alil and it died at the stop sign down the street from my house. I was thinking maybe some old gas is in there since its been awhile since ive started it so went down the street and it died again at the next stop sign. I had to keep reving it to keep it running when i slowed or stopped and put some new gas in it but I havent run it alot since i put the new gas in this morning since i only work 3 miles from the gas station..Wondering if anyone had any ideas or suggestions one hat could be going on?

gas shouldn't be going bad in a week or two, so it may be something else. I would try running at high-rpms for a while to see if anything changes.

The poor excuse of gas and Ethanol they sell nowadays can have issues after just a few weeks.
Add some Stabil and Sea Foam to your tank and run it through.
You should be o.k. after that.

I started the bike while it was parked and did a high RPM's and it was still kinda running rough and almost sounded like it was missing out. The only way I could keep it running is with the choke on. Ill try the the Stabill and Seafoam and see it that clears it up....hopefull

I started up my 600 with a sit time since the storm.

Battery was completely dead etc... Took alot of cranking for the bowls to fill and bring some vacuum to the system.

I still had to drive it and get it working right and get all the air out of the carbs in the fuel/jet/bowl system.
