No worries Tommy. I figured with all the hooplah people could make their own decisions.

Based on your assessment, the video here, and other people's opinions, that track doesn't seem like the Devil people are making it out to be.

I guess I'll see when my wheels hit the pavement there.

The only issues really are the areas where they have laid down the rhino bond. It makes it difficult in some areas to use a different line but as you can see from the video if you stay to the inside of the liner you are on good pavement.

I could not see going two or three wide into some of those areas but that would just make one have to put a little more thought into where to pass.

I never experienced any loss of traction on the patches. Maybe I'm just not fast enough.

For track days it is not really a problem. You're able to ride a good line. But like Dirk said, going in 3 or 4 wide in a race could cause some issues. But, thankfully, ECR is re-paving all the corners before the CMRA race...

We'll see if it's actually "thankfully"... and if they actually follow through.

I hope it works out for the best, I'm looking forward to riding there in September.

...I know what you mean...the owner sounded very dedicated to repaving the corners and areas that had been retouched though. I think they said they will start at the beginning of August and will be ready in a couple of weeks or so.

We will see.

When I left there last month, I had the feeling, I might go back later this year but by next year it looked like the pavement would be toast.
It's only been open a short while and they already had an area where the surface was so broken they had cones around it.

I'm no expert but it looked like they didn't do the preperation right. Anyway maybe they can repair and improve it.

Overall I like the track and the surface issues weren't too bad... yet.

Did they use Rhino?

I thought they used something else.

There is usually no problem w/ the Rhino.

Not sure what it is but it is very similar to the Rhino Bond used at Oak Hill.

Not at all really! I was there in April and it was still kinda cold and no one had problems with it!

Turn 5 is my absolute favorite turn out of all the track in Texas!! I can't wait to get out there again!

Not really...use a lot of back brake there...bike will move more with all front brake applied as it is a tad bumpy.

I was there also recently. The patches are not too bad. The bike did slide on the patches but for the most part it hooked right back up when you got on the good pavement. Don't know if I would feel real good trail braking deep into those corners and running over a patch, so that may be a slight concern. To me the big concern is the run off areas. They need to groom them and get the big chunks out of there. Turn 8 is also a bit sketchy. The run off there needs to be addressed. I think right now it would be an area for air fence. Don't get me wrong I will race there and I think it will be a great track. I love racing on Firebird Main in Phoenix. So the lack of run off will not deter me from racing. I like the ECR layout better then MSR too.
