YZF600R GEAR CHANGE

HELLO ALL,

I AM A FAIRLY NEW MEMBER AND HAVE A OF A PICKLE ON MY HANDS. I HAVE A 99 YZF600R IN MY GARAGE WITH BAD GEARS. YUP, YOU GUESSED IT, ITS 2ND GEAR. I NEED TO CHANGE 2ND AND 6TH GEARS AND THE SHIFTING FORKS. I HAVE ALREADY PULLED THE MOTOR AND SCARED AS CAN BE IN SPLITTING THE CASE. HAS ANYONE DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE? WOULD ANYONE BE WILLING TO WORK WITH ME ON THIS OR WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A LITTLE SIDE MONEY?

Done everything BUT that to my YZF, so I would not be helpful, other than to provide moral support. I've made it 56,000 without any hint of 2nd gear issues. Look on www.yzf600r.com for replacing 2nd gear. There is a great how-to with pictures and a recommended parts list to go through this. Second gear post.

Good on ya for trying this yourself. Take your time and ask members on the YZF site for advice if you get stuck.
