??? Not Sure ???

Question Who keeps the parts

A co-worker of mine had a wreck on his 08 Honda Reb 750... He took it to the dealer to get it fixed. I asked him if he was going to ask for the old parts back after they repaired it. He or I wasn't sure if he is able to get from the dealer since the insurance company is paying for the repairs.

The tank has a minor dent in it. The exhaust has scuffs on it

Are you or are you not allowed to keep your old parts?

He should be able to get his parts back. The insurance company isn't buying the parts, they are buying new parts and service. He just need to ask for the old ones back. I would think.

The insurance company has the rights to the parts first, customer second(in the automotive field.)

If the shop is trying to keep them, I would assume its the technician not the shop.

The insurance company has no use for the parts. Just ask for them. I own a body shop and if the customer wants the old parts we give them to him as long as there is not a core charge. We sell all the parts for scrap.
