Exclamation Question about scratches on engine cover (06 F4i)

I've been looking at a 06 F4i, and I've noticed that there are three light, fairly horizontal scratches on the engine cover just inside the front fairing. The scratches are also just above footpeg level, and the fairing itself doesn't have a scratch on it.

Does anyone have an idea of what those scratches could be from? This is sort of urgent as I'm planning on buying the bike tomorrow... so any input would be greatly appreciated!

unless they are super deep scratches I would not worry. prolly just fell over in a driveway. look at bar ends too. if they are deep scratches then the bike has been layed down while moving.

the handlebar ends are perfect. no scratches or blemishes. I didn't look at the footpegs though.

it could have been down at one point and they replaced or repainted the fairing

Thats possible, but what discounts it in my mind is that everything else on the bike is near perfect condition and the scratches are quite light. It has 4438 miles on it, btw.

$5900 for an 06 F4i, 4438 miles and the rest of the bike is in awesome condition. Other than the described scratches, the bike doesn't have any cosmetic flaws. The subframe and forks are nice and straight. The fluids all appear normal, the tires don't show excessive wear, and the bike has an aftermarket exhaust. He also has the original pipe, although that could have been picked up anywhere.

As long as the bike is clean and you're happy with the deal pick it up.
