ive had that same thing happen to me COUNTLESS times... but EVERYTIME it happened i was obeying the speed limit and not passing just going with the flow like i would if i was in my truck and i swear EVERYTIME i dont pass or keep a little bit ahead of traffic and stick somewhere in the middle of the pack i almost get run over from people either
A. pulling out and then into the turn lane and just merge over.... or
B. people diving from the left lane into the right to enter a parking lot or
C. people coming from a light waiting to turn right and they see a gap behind a truck and must think my headlight is just a trailer or something and try to fit right next to me behind the car i was following at a good 4 second gap infront of me

Are you sure you weren't in his blind spot? Good reaction to avoid a collision

yea i actually like riding in blind spots. it makes life so much more interesting.

I passed him, but had to slow for the suv turning right (ck the video). He came up from behind, and then dived into my lane.

If he did indeed see you, I cannot conceive the thought process of someone trying to merge into a bike while thinking it's an acceptable act. If he did not see you or look in your direction...well that's a different story.
