I'll tell ya, seems to be a matter of percentages. Can't imagine a better leader than Matt (Caligonetx) with the newer folks, and they still had a couple of issues. You'll need a "no passing the leader rule" and really take it easy.

Agreed but less likely when your not trying to prove anything!

One thing to reinforce is that you are responsible for keeping the gap on the person in front of you.

The thing I see that usually causes problems is the accordion effect of fast straights and slow corners.... but then again my group normally rides more of a "The Pace" style ride and pretty much runs the same speed all day.. and has sucked some noobs into corners faster than they wanted to go.

Biggest thing on a beginner ride is pick a reasonable speed and stick to it. I've seen more than one "beginner" ride that pulled out on the road and took off at 1xx...

No worries. Some of us have a passion on sharing safety and proper techniques over the ride itself... No one left behind, its a polite paced ride and a great road to learn on. Like the Forest Gnomes of Saturday Wonderland say, leave the ego at the door... there's a freakin busa leading the cruiser group.
