looking for a trackbike!!

A little conversation with a Scammer

A friend and I are currently looking for new bikes on craigslist, cycletrader, etc. We are constantly finding ads that are obviously scams, but every now and then we find an ad that could possibly be legit. Here is one of the conversations from a possibly legit person. More replies are coming
These scammers really get annoying when you are really looking for a bike.

NOTE: The *** were put in place of my friends name.

Don't be mad that I'm working a legitimate job while you're the one sitting at home trying to steal the hard earned money that the people in this country work for. It must suck at the end of the day to know that you got busted by a "spank".

P.S. You're not a very good scammer. You should go and find an
honest

Hi,

The bike is already at the DAS shipping company in Kentucky. I took
the
bike to them to be able to ship it to a potential buyer whilst I'm
out

of town for a week. I also have the bike listed on eBay and that lets
me
use their secure payment system. I'm very busy with my job and I'm
sorry
I can't meet you in person. According to eBay you have 3 days from
the

time you receive the bike to inspect it and decide if you want to
keep

it or not. I've sent you an email from eBay, check out the item and
after/if you complete the checkout process email me to confirm the
purchase.

Hi,

I'm currently out of town with work for a couple of days I hope
that's not a problem. The bike has never been dropped or abused and I have
a clear / clean title. Price I'm asking for the bike is $4,000.00
including shipping costs within the US if you're out-side the
Craigslist
state my post was made. I'd like the transaction to be completed
ONLY through eBay Motors in order to seal a secure binding contract if
you decide to buy the bike.

For more pictures see the link below:

Let me know if you are seriously interested in purchasing the bike.

Thank you for your time,
Ryan

*** Note *** I had the EXACT SAME conversation with a lady named " Heather ", only I was buying a 300zx. It started on Craigslist and then she wanted the deal done supposedly thru Ebaymotors. She said ebay would contact me or send me an email. And sure enough FAKE EBAY sent me a bogus email to my AOL account. The FAKE EBAY page stated that I was to send money within 3 day and I was to send the money to Essex England. The money would be held by an ebay account manager. I was to recieve the car and inspect it. Then the money would be released.
*** I started finding it to be weird that the car was in a place that was not Houston and that it would be shipped here. Then that her account was in England and not in the U.S BUT the big tip was that in the bottom of the fake email, it stated a TOOL FREE number for Ebay instead of a TOLL free number. and FYI ... Ebay does not have phone support. She/He almost got me but they didn't. I reported them to Ebay and craigslist but it still will keep going on... *** BEWARE *** of deals to good to be true...

I even gave craigslist permission to use all of my emails as a story... but CL is really really bad with this ... they should have better security

Its not that its not obvious. Its just really really annoying when you constantly have to contact people about bikes only to get this $hit.

same thing happened to me, somebody in NY was trying to sell me a Ducati 999s for $3000 over ebay motors. I sent ebay the email and they said it was a scam. Be careful, but most of the time the people are overseas (so it says).
