Road w a group from MH and PP1 to Galveston Saturday Afternoon. Was three of us two lights back from the group. Came up on them, cops everywhere, they were pulled over. We were surrounded by cars, couldn't speed if we wanted to. cop blocked the left lane so we merged to the right between cars, then I turned after the cop into a turn lane at the light. Signaled to the gas station. At a green arrow I pulled in.

A cop three lanes over came after me, said the second person of five behind me almost hit the cop car in the turn... WTF, we were riding together Dumbazz... And I was ticketed for unsafe lane change; even though the cop that got us had a mustang pulled over, wasn't visible through lanes of traffic, and verified I used hand signals. Tried to get me for no turn signals, I verified I had them and they were on(he admitted) when I turned into the gas station.

This was off of 352 before blue water highway. Gave me for wearing full leathers when everyone else(hiding in store) wore t shirts and said a busa is hard to control(BS...) When they got in their car they sat and watched me take pictures of the intersections, etc.

they were surprised I had a completely clean record, drove for work(BMW Tech) showed two bikes on my insurance and had my license in Texas for 8 yrs... Cop checked my odometer too... 20k miles, since last May... He tried everything on my bike, including my license plate etc...

All the other people speeding were let off but one w no license or insurance.

don't think I'll be riding that ride any time soon. There was no formation in the ride and hard to distinguish a leader.

the BEST part had to have been the freakishly obese officer that pulled up after everyone was ready to leave to explain to us how 'dangerous these bikes are'.

I rode 3.5 hours morning of the 4th up through the woods, and Anderson, Navasota, Tomball, back home and didn't see one cop the whole time!

(Of course I did almost get taken out by 3 separate large birds on road-clean-up-detail, and a dog who obviously didn't expect me to not stop for him... and a nice lady who tried to sell me a watermelon to take home with me... you don't get THAT in town! LOL)

I never had any problems w cops before then. And I didn't think about tickets as BS but after what happend I am beginning to see everyone's point.

Im not a perfect rider but what I was ticketed for was ridiculous... I wasn't in view of the cop and he accused me of these things... They found nothing on Inknmyskin so she was off free, thank fully

I guess I was lucky this weekend. Got pulled over for riding on one wheel and he said he could take me in for "wreckless endangerment" or something like but he ended up giving me a ticket for expired inspection only.

I guess it depends on the cop cuz some are cool and the rest aren't

I believe it was the temperature and lack of donuts on that side of town that boiled his blood against me...

I got pulled over for some BS this weekend also. I was in Crocket County out in the middle of no where. The speed limit was 80mph and I had my cruise set on 80mph on the nose.....I had the cruise running about 50 miles straight when a State Trooper on the other side of the interstate hits his lights while still on the other side. He jumped across the median and chased me down. I pulled over and he asks for my stuff and I give it to him. Then he asks me to get out of the truck and get into his cop car. I asked what I was being pulled over for and he said speeding. So I said "isn't the speed limit 80?" He said that he didn't need me to tell him what the speed limit was..... So I asked to see the radar gun reading and he didn't have anything. He asked me what I was doing over there and how long I had been there etc.....just started popping out questions left and right. Finally he printed me out a warning(luckily) and let me go.

My point is, I KNOW I was going 80 and that was the speed limit. He just pulled me over to search my truck and give me . I had my GF and her siblings in there....they were scared sh*tless as we were 7hrs away from Houston.....

I guess he had to get something to prove he did something that day.... He was a too..

Find an attorney. If possible, find the receipt from the gas station. There is no way you could have purchased a sammich from the gas station at, likely, the same time of (or before) the time on the ticket.

The following distance is kind of BS anyway -- in staggered formation, the following distance of the bike in front of you is usually at a correct distance. This is an interesting optical illusion as the following distance from the bike that appears to be in front of you is very short -- but the distance is actually the bike on the side next to you and not the one in front of you.

If he was unable to determine who was and was not using a turn signal.... It stands to reason that he did not have radar on each and every bike to determine who was and was not speeding. He also probably fell for the optical illusion of the staggered formation's following distance.

Oh, the "2-second rule" following distance is listed in the driver's and motorcyclist's manuals.

Here's the deal - everyone makes mistakes, including cops, on the job and off. The problem comes when they realize they made the mistake, and still pose-up to save face. I'm not against cops; I show the respect - i've been released on warnings more than a few times (my wife hates me for that! LOL) - but if they make a mistake, they should just fess up to it, like we have to do.

I'll be the first to apologize if I did wrong - and I'd like the same respect from cops when they do...

I got pulled over once in my car, late at night on Beechnut having driven thru a flashing yellow light (not speeding). The cross-traffic had flashing red (there were none). Cop stopped me as if I had driven through a flashing red instead - and when he noticed, his response was, "well - you're supposed to be cautious anyway" and then told me to be careful and then let me go. My peeve is - he could have just laughed it off and told me he got confused instead, which would show some respect for both of us... I don't see that happening when they pull over a group of crotch-rockets and don't have enough evidence...

Let the posturing begin! LOL!
