Mods...Can we add a "Rider Down" section?

Since it seems that 1 out of 3 threads on the board these days is a "rider down" or "wreck" or RIP or squid down or something related kind of threads, I was wondering if we can get a section added to throw this sh*t into? Just curious?

I mean I am concerned if board members go down or get hurt etc. but , 90% of these posted "rider down" threads are not even members here.....just someone saw something about someone going down......

I think if there was a section for it, those who are primarily concerned with downed rider stories can go in that section and read all they want while the rest of us that want to read and post about actual bike/riding topics can do so without reading pages of "rider down" stories.....

No disrepect to any members here that have gone down or anything but...... I am tired and reading about every rider in Houston that takes a spill.... I mean ...it happens....if you ride, you fall....it happens...its all part of the game.

Maybe another section in off topic? Just a thought...

I used to think it helped the newer riders understand the frequency of wrecks on bikes. But, now I'm starting to doubt that.

I was thinking the same thing a couple months ago, but felt like it was a slap in the face, saying we are incompetent in what we do and host lots of crashes all the time.

I was actually thinking this same thing the other day, regardless of whether it helps others or not, but logistically we have so many of these threads it makes since for them to have their own section.

It is also a convenient way to find updates on fellow rider's condition. IMO

Well I guess technically there's a sticky for it... But there's still a thread posted and then it gets added to the sticky.

I agree...I was under the impression that thread was for MH Members Down but then all kinds of random people started getting added to the list.

IMO we don't need it. just keep it as is, it reminds everybody how many wrecks there are, not just the one's that go into "that" section to look.

Everyone can still see them, it can be a sub-section in General Discussion and it will still pop up on the front page, things will just be more organized in the general section. A section was created for Motorcycle News (which used to be posted throughout General Discussion and there are more rider down threads then news threads). It just makes since to make things more organized.

Honestly....I am just tired of hearing about it and reading about it. Now if its a board member that ate it, I don't mind it being posted so we can try to help him if he needs a hand some way or another but sh*t......if they don't post here or even related to or friends with someone that posts here, then why post it up? "Harley rider down in Baytown" or "BMW rider down in Hill country" etc.....??? IT HAPPENS...GET OVER IT....

Throw this junk somewhere in its own section so those who are obsessed with going down can go study the archives of downed riders(unknown riders at that) so the rest of us can actually read General Discussion and talk about bikes, parts, rides, the hobby, the lifestyle etc.....

RANT OVER...

PS. I have been down a couple times myself FYI for those about to start hating.

Yeah I noticed that.....that, I am good with it....If all of these "Rider down" threads would be posted in your Sticky and that was it, that would be great.... Put all the wreck stuff up there in that Sticky and it will be way more organized....We probably don't need an additional section if people will just post the wreck stuff in the Sticky...

Not every 3rd new thread on GD.

i feel we should have a seperate section for it...

1 . you will know where to look for threads of fallen riders that you can find any more

2. it will still show up in the new post section . PPL will still see rider down threads reguardless because of the new post option .

I believe I share the general ideas here. Would be nicer not seeing a new thread everytime somebody doing something stupid eats it. Everybody would still somewhat see it b/c of the New Posts option, but you wouldn't have to surf through them to find the thread you came to MH to see.
