Rider down this morning...

I was riding into work this morning and I came up on the scene of a motorcycle accident at Addicks Clodine and Westheimer (1093). The accident probably happened when it was still dark this morning because there were already 15 cop cars, news vans, and the whole area was taped off. A camera man from channel 13 did tell me it was a motorcycle fatality and no other vehicles were involved.

No word on what kind of gear, or what kind of bike. It was really hard to tell if it was even a sportbike or a cruiser because it was so mangled. I suspect sportbike though because of all the plastic in the road around the bike. The bike was black or gray.

RIP

Helmet on the seat, suspected alcohol involved. It's no wonder that the police seem to have it in for riders sometimes. People on the board complain about having to read about wrecks/deaths all the time. Imagine having to scrape one up almost every day...

Deputies say alcohol a likely factor in fatal motorcycle crash

HOUSTON -- Alcohol was believed to be a factor in a fatal motorcycle accident early Monday morning.

Deputies said a passerby found a man lying in the road next to a broken motorcycle on Addicks Clodine near Westheimer at around 4:15 a.m.

The man had reportedly just left his friendís house.

For unknown reasons, he lost control of his motorcycle, jumped the median and slammed into a tree.

The motorcycle split in half, and the man died at the scene.

Deputies said the man had his helmet with him, but he wasnít wearing it at the time of the crash.

It was strapped to the seat of the bike.

I got there around 5am when someone finally found him. It was a black Honda CBR 600rr. And yes the bike was in tons of pieces. There was a helmet on scene but I don't think he was wearing it (which I told the cops due to where it was found and what it looked like) Probably on the back of the bike. The helmet was about 10 yards in front of a tree that you could see he hit. It looked like he went onto the curb and the bike turned sideways and he hit the front end on the tree and the body and bike kept going. The tree was about 20 yards away from body and bike. The front end of the bike broke off at the forks and the front wheel and upper fairing pieces where by the tree. RIP
