Question 86 Honda Scooter 150 idle problems

How and where is the location of the idle adjuster. Because right now the bike starts up with no problem but as soon as a release the throttle it shuts down. Then i have to restart it again. Please help with how to's and where to... i am clueless however everyone says its a simple fix.

Thanks in advance.

An 86!!!!!!!! It's a miracle it still exists. Can you put up a pic? I'll bet 99% of the people here have never seen one.

I have an '86 Elite 150, it is pretty fast too, I've had it on the freeway before and it wasn't too scary... the funny thing was seeing me in full leathers on it I'm sure!

Anyway, it sounds more like you need to clean the carb and idle circuits rather than increasing the idle. Sounds like the pilot jet or idle circuit is dirty.

The only idle adjustment on this bike is the screw stop on the bell crank on the side of the carb.

Red face

Tom do you know of any place that I can have this done? Or have you done it before? Just curious if this is a do it yourself type of fix. Or having to go to a shop to have done

I'd do it myself, but I feel very comfortable doing those things. If you don't, I would take it to Motorcycles Unlimited and let them dunk and clean the carb for you- better yet, they can take the whole bike, diagnose it for you, and fix it.

Greg, I almost rode it to work one day in full leathers from my house to Sugar Land. The guys would have surely taken pics if I would have been that brave...

I hear you man, and no problem.

I don't know what side of town you're on, but there are several reputable shops around. If you're on the north side, I'd hit up Motorcycles Unlimited, Patrick will take care of you.

I just saw that you're in Bellaire (I didn't look until after I posted). I'm about an hour from you to the SW, so if you want to drive, I'll help you out.

There are some folks here that can probably help out and get you to a shop if you post up in the general section
