A motorcycle rider is in critical condition after he is injured leading Bellaire police on a chase into southwest Houston.

Bellaire officers were conducting a traffic stop at approximately 1:15 a.m. Wednesday when the rider circled them in his Harley Davidson and began to drive erratically.

Police tried to stop the rider on South Rice, but he rode the motorcycle down Westpark to Edloe where struck a curb and was thrown from the Harley.

The rider was thrown approximately 50 yards and hit a tree. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

Bellaire and Houston police are investigating the chase and accident sites. Traffic was closed on the Westpark and Edloe intersection for approximately 2 hours.

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength-

Though I hate to admit it, they are a force to be reckoned with in the NHRA. And I know of two around where i live that are probably faster than just about any 600 and some 750's

Granted; they're powerful sometimes - but not known for agility! Running from cops? I think that has to be a bad idea. (in any case, but especially on a cruizer... geez!)

But what was he doing circling a traffic stop and then taking off suspiciously anyway?? Sounds very strange....

definitely a LOSER!

They might not be slow but they ain't fast either. You can't get away from a car on a bike that goes slower than most cop cars. Harley at best do what say 120mph and a cop car can do what 125 maybe 130 right? Wow I could outrun a cop on my goldwing it does 136. j/k I wouldn't do that that was a JOKE mods.

That is what I was thinking. Yeah they are fast in NHRA for a whopping quarter mile---- of straight. Then they have to tear the whole engine apart and rebuild it!!

Not sayin they are the most agile bikes in the world. Would ride my gsxr over one any day. All i'm sayin is they are not all as slow as people think.

Shouldn't run from cops anyway...

maybe in a straight line race for a good short distance, but if it involves any turns.........

what do the v-twins top out at anyway? I just don't see a harley flying around at 170mph (stock for stock)
