Oh yeah, Cresson on 7-20! LSTD

I forgot this was even coming up!

Sunday, Cresson, and some badtotheboneBBQ on the way there and back!

Just a 3 hour drive from most of Houston to the track, we'll head up Saturday evening and be back by about 11pm on Sunday with full bellies!

Come one, come all, it'll be a great Sunday at the track.

Roll Call:

1. TomLSTD

its only 3 hours to cresson? cool, I thought it was further than that, given its proximity to dallas

It's 250 miles from Cypress to Cresson. I picked NW Houston so the figures would be optimistic. More like a little more than 4 hours. It's still worth the drive. VERY fun track. Way more technical than TWS (Texas World Speedway).

Cresson offers just about all of the most challenging aspects of racing and track riding that every good track in the country offers. It is a very, very safe layout, without walls and trees, and track access by crash crews is very easy due to the layout and arrangement of the paddock.

Currently, the original configuration of the 1.7 mile track (image below),

Track Layout 1 7

is the track that the CMRA currently races in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions. The 1.7 mile track is full of some really great combinations with fast and technical tight turns. There are elevation changes that make some of the turns "blind", but not like the drop-offs you'll find on the 1.3 mile track.

Hit me up with any questions, if I can't answer them, I'll make sure one of the really fast guys will!

I think all tracks are noob friendly if the noob does not forget to use common sense and uses his/her head during each session. O yeah, and not let themselves get sucked into "I am going to catch that guy whatever it takes" mentality.

Other than that, the track is great. Tons of fun.

As indicated by others, every track is "noob" friendly with the right pace and good instruction.

If you're new, sign up for the "c" group, I'll tow you around a bit if you like, or you can sign up for the awesome instruction by the best instructors in the World!

Seriously though, Cresson is probably the best track in the State as far as the fun factor goes. Elevation changes, technical areas, fast sweepers, it's all there.

Check our sponsor's forum for my write-up about the track here: http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=49455

Sign up fast, Cresson events for us always seem to fill up really quick!

True, true...

I'd personally wait on Eagle's Canyon. That place is going to be miserable until they get their paddock done and some more amenities.

Cresson absolutely kills every other track as far as paddock area, staging areas (shaded), showers, bathrooms, A/C classrooms, etc.

We'll be at Eagle's Canyon at the end of this season, hopefully, they'll have more work done! Otherwise, the amenities will only be slightly better than Oak Hill... which has almost none.

I can't tell you Greg, I can only show you. If I told you, you'd tell someone, and they'd tell someone else... it would be like those old AIDS commercials!

Next time you come to a TD at Cresson, follow us south for about 20 minutes before you head home. I guarantee it will be worth it! They love "virgins" there!

I'm definately going to hit this track this year, July is just a bad month for me, and I'm celebrating my aniversary that weekend. I really enjoy being married and I think if I took off to the race track I may not enjoy it anymore
though I have already offered for us to spend the day at the track together, and I just got one of those looks.

I am doing the LSTD day @ TWS (Texas World Speedway) on 8/11, I'm already jones'n for it

Yeah, I get those looks too. The thing that keeps me asking though is that if I ask, at least it shows that I want her to come with me (even though I know she won't) and I get a bit of a reprieve when I go anyway! Been working well for a long time... I guess I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch though!
