I would buy it back from the insurance and make it a track bike. With the money left over I would use it as a nice down payment... just my 2 cents.

Bike is totaled based on the pics. Knowing you, you will not be happy fixing that bike so you will be better off buying a new one. If the buy back is cheap get it back, you should be able to get 3K atleast if you part that out.

Would say no....but haven't got any money yet! But don't foresee any problems. We talked with insurance agent before we ever started policy to make sure would be covered if accident happened on the track. Most will cover as long as you're not in a organized/timed event.

Subframes and swingarms are easy to replace FWIW.

Oh no, not again...

Nothing against you, Trevor, but this subject of insurance and the track tends to stir folks up...

FWIW... SEVERAL people have used insurance for track-related claims with NO problems... read your policy, call your under-writer, etc. and you'll find that ins. co's. WILL cover track-day/school mishaps.

I'd try to get a list, or idea, of what is needed to repair it. See if they are factoring in a new swingarm, for only minor scratching, or something of that nature.

Then take the must replace items and mark them off the list if they'd be replaced with track items anyways or if it is only cosmetic replacement.

I would tend to look close into having to buy it back, but it needs to be known what is being replaced and why on their estimate. Too many sides to the question to just say yes, or no, for buying it back. I just think it has the potential for being a bad track bike for minimal cost depending on where the estimate is making it's case on the parts.

ouch!! any salvageable mods/parts from it?? if you can buy it back for less then $2k, i'd do it. Part it out and buy a new/used '07-08.

If you plan on sticking with the same model, your more then likely gonna put the same mods on it. Why pay retail for them again!!!

Subframe and swingarms aren't that expensive.

I would say buy it back, make it for the track and get another bike with the rest money and some extra.
Besides, you still have the other Honda, aren't you?
So, what are you worried about?

I'm shocked that the swingarm is jacked up, it sure didn't look like it was that bad...

If it's cheap enough to buy back, putting it on the track and making it perty is easy to do!

Tom,
It's bent a little bit but I've seen them pretty inexpensive used.

Overall the bike isn't in too bad a shape, just a lot of cosmetic pieces and some mechanicals.

To track it out won't take much; a clip on, subframe, swingarm, radiator, upper stay, footrest bracket, brake pedal, rear master cylinder reservoir, lower gauge housing and a few other things will get you back up and running.
Add some race bodywork and you'll be good to go.

Candie,
When I spoke to Tim I let him know that I can go over it with you guys when you all come by.

How's the collarbone ?
