The most important criteria for a track bike are that it be paid off, and it's not your only transportation to work on Monday. Otherwise, pretty much anything will do for track days.

For the record, I ride a '00 SV650. It meets both of the above criteria, and I'm nowhere near even thinking about being able to explore the bike's limits. I still have some learnin' to do.

WOW!! I didn't think there were that many 600's that were ridden. I have a 2003 FZ1 now but I'm seriously looking at a new 08 GSXR 750. I like the displacement of the 1000 but don't really need to break the sound barrier. The 08 750 has just as much horse power as my FZ1 and is track ready.
