there really shouldn't be a reason why NOT to wear full gear...not sure why ppl would not want to be protected at all times....i know it's hot...or whatever, but ppl should have understood that since the first day they bought the bike and regardless should of known that full gear is the way to gp, even in this hot place...I know not all will let that stop them, that's just my opinion...I always wear my leather Dainese Jackets, helmet, gloves, and boot...i kinda feel bad cause i dont wear riding pants, but they will come...i guess my opinion hardly counts cause i dont wear FULL gear.

You really should. I'm not gonna blow sunshine up your and say I've never ridden without a jacket, as I've tried it a few times. I won't lie to ya, it feels good. The few times I've gone without one though, I've felt VERY vulnerable. I've gone down 3 or 4 times, thankfully each time with gear on, and if I didn't have it, I would be missing a LOT of skin and have more than my share of scar tissue. I now ride in a non perforated black leather jacket each and every time I get on the bike. It's hot as fk, but I would muuuuch rather sweat.

I ride every day to work, I dress in slacks and a nice shirt....SO, I have a full tourmaster 2 piece suite that zips together...the overpants fit great over my slacks, and the whole suite moves plenty of air. Plus the water proof liners are a huge plus when riding in the cold or wet...

I also were a helmet, gloves and boots with the suite every time I go out. the ONLY exception that I give myself is that I will not wear the pants if I have on the joe rocket jeans.....

On the weekends, when I ride I will wear shorts and a tee shirt under the suite and IMO i turn out better then those that don't wear gear because it's "too hot". Its houston, guess what, its hot! but I will not have to add a sunburn to the list when I ride.

After this past weekends "super safe forrest ride" and seeing some VERY nice leather suites, I decided that is next on my list to save up for and get....

those suits rock. I kinda did the same thing when I commuted. I packed my work clothes in the tank bag and changed into them when I got there.

These days when I ride, bare minimum is gloves, helmet, jacket. But let's go back to the day where I refused to wear a helmet. When I first started riding friends of mine tried to get me to wear a helmet. One day I put a 3/4 helmet on. Once you get up to around 55mph the wind factor would start pushing the helmet back and the chin strap would start choking me.

Being choked to death was no fun. So I went the next 15-20 years without wearing a helmet. Then here comes wife #2. NAG NAG NAG until I get a helmet. This time around I get a full faced helmet. If I would of known how comfortable a full faced helmet was and the fact they don't choke you once you get up to speed I would of been wearing a helmet all along.

Today, wearing gear is like wearing a seat belt. I feel naked if I don't have it on.

I use to take that approach until one day I came to realize I didn't care what others thought. So sweat drenched or whatever when out at the clubs w friends, weddings or church services Im in a jacket.
