I choose to ride with shorts because I do, I know the consequences...easy as that.

Lots of nice whips in that picture

As far as the guy, it's his body, and it won't hurt me different worse if he wrecks and he's wearing gear or not. What is annoying is seeing 10+ "I saw a squid at " every day, there's a squid thread, use it.

If you wreck that bike you probably don't want to survive the crash anyway.

yes I wear gear all the time. you can't plan when you have a wreck. , two years ago I ran to the grocery store 1.5 miles away to get my then preggo wife strawberries and something to drink. Sitting at the light coming back I got rear ended by a buick. totaled the bike and I only had a bruised heel and big toe. It is stupid to think that just because your put-putting around the block that nothing will happen.

also, just remember that when someone goes down without gear, good chance it WILL affect you with health insurance somewhere along the line...
The only thing that really annoys me is flip-flops, and swim shorts. Not so much for the safety aspect, but just because it looks so annoying.

I wear gear all the time now, but back in the day I really only wore a helmet and gloves. I've crashed 3x without gear (but still had helmet), and came out with pizza elbow, pizza knees, and pizza shoulders, pizza back, etc. So it's not that bad, since time heals wounds. So it's a matter of how much pizza you are willing to accept! Looking back though, it would have been nice to have worn the gear. Nowadays, with the advances in technology, there's really no reason why not to wear gear, even in very hot weather like Houston. My thread is lost, but I had a great thread with 12 suggestions for hot weather riding.

Ok......setting the money issue & even the squid judgements aside.....

He's on a 200+ horsepower bike that could smoke anything short of a cruise missile. Is that really the bike ya wanna ride in flip flops?
