Sold the bike :( what should i get next R1 or R6?

Sold my bike last Sunday. Now kind of wishing i hadn't. Planning on buying a new R1 or R6 mid august but until then im caging it and not enjoying it so much lol. I may have to break down and buy it sooner then i really wanted/can afford to. Any thoughts as to which one i should get? I know most people don't seam to like the yamahas but for some reason i really like how they look especially the R1 with the under tail exhaust. any thoughts?

The new R1's are nice. Ask anyone who owns one. I say hold off until September. Word has it a new gen. R1 for '09.

There are alot of rumors including a new injection system to optimize the power through mid and top end....

That's alot of new technology at one time. From experience there will be glitches but as solid as the R1 has been since it's release I wouldn't expect too many problems.

The '09 R1 is an all new ground up rebuild. There have been a lot of different photoshops of the new r1. I doubt it will have the single sided swingarm. It is supposed to be much more competitive in the low and mid-range as previously stated. I am waiting until September for mine. It was sad seeing the '08 R1 get it's handed to it from all of the new liter bikes in the shoot-outs. The R1 has not changed much since '04, really. I know they went to 4 valve head, fly by wire, variable length intakes...etc, but it hasn't undergone a real ground up rebuild like this. Time to put that new 1000rr in it's place.

As for the undertail exhaust, many believe they will go with the shorty can like the R6 and newer bikes. I love my undertail, but the stock exhaust had way too many downsides. It cooked your in traffic, it got so hot that the nitrogen reservoir on the rear shock would ruin, more weight up top so center of gravity is higher, a little too much back pressure even when the ex-up is fully opened, etc... At least the after market exhaust cost should be less expensive for just one can and the headers instead of all of that extra pipe and 2 cans.

Misconception; its cheaper... not considered SS.

I didn't mean to scare ya; the 09s should be fairly glitch free but thats what a warranty is for.

+1

Last time I checked the warranties did not cover your usual wear and tear items such as tires and chains or the basic maintenance of the bike.

$2000 difference approx.
Way cooler looking.
You have something unique that most don't have.
CC slightly lower (still way higher than needed for public roads!) so insurance might be lower and save you a little money over time perhaps
You might be able to get it in black and white as well.

my 0.02 worth of unneeded but freely given advice.
