CMRA at MSR Houston

The Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) will be holding our first-ever MSR Houston race on the weekend of July 4-6. Weíre very excited and are looking forward to a great weekend! With that in mind, I thought it would be a good idea to post some information about our event which will (hopefully) answer any questions you may have.

The weekend schedule is posted on our website on the Home page and the Schedule page. Or you can just click on it here: http://www.cmraracing.com/pdf/2008/S..._schedule1.pdf On Friday, Lone Star Track Days offers a combination day which includes CMRA racer practice, CMRA New Rider School and a street rider track day. Registration for Friday is done through LSTD www.lstd.com. On Saturday, we have mini bike sprints in the morning (including our Junior Motard race designed for kids ages 8-12) and a 6-hour big bike endurance in the afternoon. On Sunday, we have 18 6-lap sprint races for our big bikes.

Our gates open Thursday evening from 6-10 p.m. and then are open the rest of the weekend from 6:00 a.m.- 10:00 p.m. Kids 12 and under are free. Adults pay $10.00 for a Sunday only armband, all other days the gate fee is $15.00 and the armband is good for the entire weekend. Spectators on motorcycles pay $5.00 each. Beginning on Friday, we will have a food vendor there providing both a breakfast and lunch menu. Ice, t-shirts, hats, etc. will be available at our merchandise tent. There will be a supervised inflatable bounce house for the kids on Saturday and Sunday. Camping is available, although there is limited electricity and no RV hookups.

Racers with current competition licenses from other recognized organizations are welcome to apply for a CMRA license and race with us that weekend. A full season license is $135, but we also offer a one-time weekend license for $25. License applications can be done ahead of time via fax to the CMRA office or at the track on the weekend. A copy of your current competition license is required at the time of application. The deadline for pre-licensing and pre-entry is midnight on Friday, June 27th. All licenses and entries after that time can be done at the track.

Race entry fees are as follows: The endurance race is $45 per hour, so a total of $270 for this 6-hour event. Mini bike entry fees are $40 for the first entry and $30 for each additional entry. The Junior Motard race is $10 (requires a $25 Junior Motard license which is available after completing the free school on Saturday morning). Our big bike sprints on Sunday are $70 for the first entry, $50 for the second and $35 for each additional entry. Most of our Expert sprint classes have class sponsors who pay a cash purse. While we donít pay cash purses in our Novice sprint classes, a number of them do have sponsors who pay certificates. The purse information is available here: http://www.cmraracing.com/pdf/2008/F...UT%20SHEET.pdf and also listed on the weekend schedule. In addition to the class sponsored purses, we have a lot of contingency payouts and Buell, Ducati and Suzuki are all on board for this weekend.

All brands of tire vendors will be on hand. Other vendors are welcome, but we ask that you contact the office ahead of time so we can make gate pass arrangements.

Well, thatís all I can think of at the moment, but Iím sure Iíve forgotten something. Please feel free to call the office or send me an email if you have any questions or if I can assist in any way. My office hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

See you at the track!!

Hey Nancy!

Hopefully, your duties at work won't be so stringent that you aren't able to pop in every once in a while to say "Hi" over here at MH.

Hey Tom, thanks for the invite.

I don't do track days...I just run a motorcycle roadracing organization, so I'm not too sure what I'd have to say on a regular basis.

I can check in more often to answer questions about the CMRA though!

And as far as running minis next year at MSR Houston...let's get through our inaugural weekend first before we decide what to do next year!

For those of you who do not know Nancy, she is awesome and has been with the CMRA for a long time! I used to race with them a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away where I thought I was good and found out how slow I really am.

There were some questions about parking and the existence or non-existence of a PA system.

I know we'll have the FM transmitter, but do you know if the track has a PA system?

Some others were asking about parking on the grounds and if trailers were going to be relegated to the "back 40".

There is a PA system, but it does not reach past the main paddock area.

I haven't ever been to MSR Houston, so I'm not familiar with the layout. We're expecting a good turnout, so I'm sure that Walter has a plan to maximize the space available.

It was in another thread, sorry.

Apparently, at the CCS race there, they made the trailers park out away from the "main" paddock because of space limitations or something.

Regardless, Walter may want to investigate this, I think that there's going to be a parking issue personally.
