Start with running some Seafoam through them to see if they are a little gummed up or they need total rebuild.

How long has it been sitting? Sounds like some bad gas and varnish in the carbs. Need to clean out the tank and carbs, then run some fresh gas with Seafoam thru it.

Old zx6r's are pretty bikes.

But I agree with everyone, there should be two sets up brakes up front.

Yeah, I had a 96 ZX6R That I sold to a kid up in Houston. Looked a lot like that one. I did a lot of work to it. Carbs gave me a little trouble too up on the top end. I'll see if I can find a pic or two. Good buy though. Hope you get it going and it stays like that.

The theory is less weight and rotating mass. In practice......its done for looks as the weight difference and rotating inerta difference is probably so miniscule as to be inconsequentail. Its normally only done on a drag bikes which it sounds like (however pathetic) this bike was setup as.
