Another excellent event at TWS (Texas World Speedway) 6-22

Aside from "our" Candie earning another collar bone break (sorry Candie ) and another dude low-siding in the horseshoe, it was a very incident free day at TWS (Texas World Speedway)!

Thankfully, neither of the get-offs were serious.

We scoped out the track first thing. Saturday, I talked to a couple of friends of mine who I raced with and were there for the track day, and I got a good head's up. We were very concerned about the crack sealant, and had to come up with some remedies to mitigate any problems for the day. The last thing we need at a fast track like TWS (Texas World Speedway) is a crash-fest!

The owners talked to track management about the sealer problems, but I don't know what the outcome will be.

Our descriptions and rules set out for (especially) turns 1/2 must have worked, because we didn't have one incident there all day, and only one run off from a mental error- no crashes though. I was sliding around every time I accidentally hit one of those buggers! For most of the day (except when I was chasing Jeff), I took the outside line, and had no issues at all. I didn't carry the speed I normally do there just because I didn't want to accidentally hit a sealer strip, but the outside line was just fine IMHO. A lot of folks don't like it out there, so it's very understandable that the majority wanted to take the inside line.

The track seemed very easy to go fast at today, all except when I was out with Jeff during a B group session. I couldn't get my stuff together and my tires were getting shagged on the left side from TMTD (too many track days!). I asked John from SCRC if I could run them in the mock race at the end of the day and told him where they were sliding and spinning up. He said that "as long as you aren't going to try to win it, I'd say they were fine!". So I hung out in the rear with the gear for the mock race and ran a moderate pace so-as to not throweth my stuffeth on yon ground! It was still fun!

Enough about me, gotta give the obligatory props to some folks, who really helped make this a great day:

Eric and Alberto, and especially Pam- who ran a flawless operation today! Bikes on track on time, bikes off track on time, and coordination with the rescue/ crash to pick up bikes with mechanicals and such was flawless! Par excellent work!

All the corner workers who did such a great job and worked very professionally! Without yall, we wouldn't be able to have a good, safe day out there!

Of course all of our extremely experienced instructors were top shelf today! It's hard (believe it or not) to teach folks all day in the heat and control ride. Our staff of instructors are fantastic, and without equal! Thanks guys/ gals!

Huge thanks to Macman, Wade, and Jeff, for their ability to continually put on high quality events! Thanks guys!

It was great to see the MH contingent out there too- I think the whole garage 2 was MH rich! Nice to see some friends who showed up to watch as well, for people who have never been to a track day, attending one usually gains some new addicts to the track pipe!

Thanks to all who chose to ride with LSTD today, we can't thank you enough for your continued support and business!

Where did Candie crash? I just got healed up on my broken collar bone so I know the feeling. Is Candie going to go with surgery or let it heal on its own?

yup another great event. The "go fast and take chances" advice helped on that last session...well that and the coaching I received from chris(aka romeo).

Wish I could have been riding....

Sorry to hear about Candie!!! Hope you heal up phast girlie!!!!

Turns out the wedding shower I was "obligated to attend" was an all female event and my presence wasn't needed (which means I could have ridden). Went to spectate in the AM and things running well as normal. Nice to see some familiar faces. See you guys (LSTD) in the near future.

I went down coming out of turn 8. I ran wide and instead of commiting to the trun I stood it up and ran off! Kept it up for a whlie then hit a rut/hole and it through me off! It was a stupid stupid mistake and I am still ticked at myself but oh well hindsight is 20/20 right?

I am pretty banged up on my whole right side as well as my Honda. As far as the collar bone I will do whatever it is that will get me back on the track the quickest. Pics of bike and xray are in my Poor Honda thread if ya want to see.

All in all it was an awesome day at the track! Thanks to LSTD for running a top notch show as always!

Glad to hear that all of the riders & crew from LSTD had a great day. I wish I could have stayed the night and ridden w/ you guys and played all day.

Sounds like between RideSmart on Saturday & LSTD on Sunday it was a kick- weekend all around

Props to both orgs for a great weekend.

IT WAS AN AWESOME DAY FOR ME, thanks to my good friends Julie and Memo i got to ride their hypermotard, it felt good after 10 months of no riding at all. Also the fact that i didn't want to crash that awesome bike kept in line. As always great to see so many familiar faces.

That was you??? Man had I known I would of kept on riding.

Great day overall even though the heat was pretty bad.

Big thanks to the carbons for the pit area and henry for those hippy electrolyte pills

Very few wrecks out there so event went very smooth other than some guy on a kawi 600 running out of fuel

So when is summer starting it's needs to get hotter!

he's getting better, he just needs to quit working the corners, pay for a full day and get more seat time. 3 sessions sometimes just isn't enough to brand that new knowledge into the ole noggin..
