there will always be next time. (I plan on it)

I am just sitting here looking over the new bike and hoping to remember to use correct body position since the ducati feels way different than the r6 that I ride the most.

exactly. thats my problem. I always forget to kiss the mirrors. I try to shift weight with my shoulders and arms instead of hips. thats what I plan on working at this track day the most. and helping Claire with her placement. she can drag knee but comes off the bike too much so its actually poser knee dragging.

Practice makes perfect.. unlike my dinosaur, the new sport bikes don't need much more than one cheek off the seat.

I don't even slide off much anymore.. just stick a knee out and it helps to get the hip into the turn, and shift my shoulders and head over to the inside mirror. If your forearms are parallel to the ground it is much easier to move the body around.

I find when I try to shift off the seat, my hips tend to close and turn away from the turn. Maybe just me, but something to watch.

forearms parallel as in tuck them in?

Claire keeps the hips wide and gets off a lot. like shes only half assed on the bike and the other half dangling. affects her lines also. makes the bike look all jerky when she does that.

No, parallel/level with the ground. As your arm straightens out, it tends to bind and make it harder to move the body around.

Sit on the bike, relax. Feet, just behind the toes on the pegs. Hands on the griips, lean forward until the arms are comfortably bent, with forearms close to level with the ground. Now, stick one knee out, and take your head/shoulders and move to the inside, without moving anything else.. don't do this on a stand unless someone is holding the bike because the weight shift will tip over the bike! Your outside arm will end up against the tank, inside elbow tucked into your side.

Tell her to get off the bike prior to the turn, and pick one spot. Moving around in the turn just makes the bike move around as well.

Mine just had a 1/4 fairing on it.. schooled a few sport bikes with that one. I can remember hanging off so far that my outside toe would come off the peg. The old elbows out flat bar style. Good times....

my dad had the full fairings. he traded it on an old old goldwing (that one that looked like sportsters) and has only ridden goldwings since then with a slight detour to a 1100xx bird for a few years. I think there are some pics of him leaning that bike (seca) hard.

The good ol' days.. wasn't at all unusual to have both ends sliding.. technology has come a long way. My Bandit would flat roast that old Seca, and it's dinosaur tech compared to the 1098 or most any SS bike.

I like a little rear end slide (like my gixxer 600, very fun for that reason) but the duc has no slide what so ever. very point and shoot.
