break in time & miles

my wife just got a new ninja 250, what is the time frame for break in & what rpm should you not go over in the first 500 miles ????

i topped out the busa at 300 miles and dynoed at 600... still running like a champ... i have heard all kinds of things as far as break in... i say ride it like you plan on riding it

oh yeah, i changed the oil at 250 and 500, then 3000, now it's every multiple of 3K, i went royal purple oil at 500 and my bike dynoed above any other stock busa dynoed that day

Royal Purple sucks, I hear.

Don't maintain a steady RPM for any extended period, don't load the engine up heavily, don't do any heavy clutch dumps. Other than that, you're cool. Ride it like you stole it.

That may be right, but I bet 10k RPMs will. Just ride the bike. Use the oil you want. Change regularly. You'll be okay.

I can tell you I was very satisfied with my change to Castrol R4 Superbike oil. Maybe the smoothest oil I've tried.
