BMW?

BMW is finally making a real sport bike. It's a cross between a kawi in the front GSXR gas tank with a yamaha tail section. Due to be out in 2009. They are entering the moto gp class. Looks nice. It's called the S1000RR.

I'm sorry, but BMW and sport bike in the same sentence is sort of like I think your grandmother is hot......i think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

You mean WSBK I think, right? MotoGP is 800cc's.

A buddy of mine has connections with San Jose BMW (you may have seen these guys wreckin' the MotoST class on their BMWs with Brian Parriot), and he says that they're going to the premiere class with AMA and to WSBK with that bike- bypassing the clubs and National scenes all together.

Dang Germans, they just assume that they can take what they think is the "best" of all the Japanese bikes and make their own bike to be better than the "Big 4".

I think they're underestimating the billions of miles of development that the Japanese have done over the years.

With the record BMW has in motorsports, I wouldn't discount this venture as one without competitive potential.

I would. BMW's arrogance is going to bite them in the azz in this class. It'll take years for them to be competitive methinks. They won't be able to pull a Ducati move.

I dont know. what ducati did was awesome for a smaller company. bmw r&d should be pretty good if its anything like their 4 wheel counterpart. but it also depends on what kind of riders they get.

esp since they have been racing motorcycles since the 20's...

The HP2R was able to place in the Daytona FX race (5th and 6th) not bad for a first forray.
