looking for a trackbike!!

Buying a reposessed bike..............................

Im in the market for a new bike, preferabbly a gsxr600, 636, or F4i. I have been looking around for quite a while but havent found any fuel injected bikes for a good price. While I was searching, I came across several "police/repossessed/recovered motorcycle auctions" . Are any of these auctions legit? Has anyone ever been to one? Im basically looking for a cheap mechanically sound 600, dosent have to be in the best cosmetic shape.

Oh yeah, post number 1!!!

They're legit. Just be careful, I've seen morons pay "perfect" bike prices for a laid-down repo bike because they got in a bidding war.

That happens all the time. Shoulda seen the powersport auction recently, I don't know how are they gonna sell those. Everything went $1k extra of what you can get on craigslist and in worst condition. I went home empty handed.

Thats good to hear that they are legit, but what are the usual prices on bikes out there? Also, where do you go to find out when the auctions are going to take place? Are there any permits/licenses needed? I really appreciate your help guys

welcome

+1 on being careful you don't pay regular price in a bidding war...also good luck on not getting into a money pit :/:

My cheap project bike has turned into a real money pit.

Word to the wise, don't buy a bike in a box at night because it looks like all the pieces are there no matter how cheap it is lol

because its an Auction, prices very drastically. Some auctions have reserve prices, some don't. its hard to say without knowing what particular auction you plan on attending. I will tell you that more popular bikes are harder to get a deal on as they're the ones most people are bidding on. If a '79 kz1000 comes up for auction, you can usually steal it.

as stated, auctions have changed.....the prices CAN be ridiculous, but sometimes a deal can be had. also those good deals usually require you to have a dealer's license, because most of the public auctions suck even worse.

best bet, search around craigslist and anything local.....you just might find a good deal out there.

Not yet. Im planning on lining up a bike to buy before i register, and then taking the course once I get it. Ive ridden dirtbikes and other friends streetbikes alot but I think the course will have alot more to give me about things I havnt thought about when it comes avoiding accidents etc.
But, like I said, I have to find a bike first lol
