Question KAWASAKI ZZR600 or SUZUKI GSX650f

I am a noob to riding and i have narrowed my new bike choices down to two bikes. Its either the Kawasaki ZZR600 or the Suzuki GSX 650F. I wanted to ask the opinion of fellow riders which they think is better and not just a couple of salesmen who would just tell me whatever to get a sale. Im looking to use the bike as a major if not sole means of transportation at least for a while. There is only a 300 dollar difference between the two for the 08 models. So with that i know its a lot of Ninja riders and a lot of GSXR riders in the forum so feel free to give your opinion and help a noob out.

Both good bikes. I'd suggest sitting on them both see how they fit your body, if you haven't already.

I have an 07 zzr600 and I love it, I commute on it everyday, its fast and has a descent amount of power. Some things to consider:

-the GSX650 gets a slight upper hand because its fuel injected which means you won't have to warm it up as much on colder days like with the carburetted Kawi
-the zzr600 has a wider rear tire which is a standard size that comes on most sportbikes, the gsx one is kinda skinny
-the zzr600 has a big upper hand on weight, if the websites are right its 100 pounds lighter!!!

Besides that it pretty much comes down to looks and what the bike feels like when you sit on it.
Let me know if you have any questions regarding the zzr and good luck.

I hear ya on the 250 but i have an uncle who has a 250 and i have been practicing on his for the last 2 months. Granted i know that isnt enough time to learn the basics and all but i ride his a lot. I personally am looking for a bike that i can keep for some years without getting bored with the power. He has the 250 as a commuter bike but he says i do great with wrist control and i catch on fast so he advised to get a bigger bike and just continue to practice on his. i take the MSF in about a month so i am getting in all the practice i can and i wont purchase the bike until after the classes. Good looking out on the advise so far tho.

the ins is cheaper on a GSX
the seating is more upright and comfy on a GSX
F/I vs carbed (as you stated)

and take the MSF ASAP.

right-o, still don't recommend any 600+ for a first bike though.

I speak from experience owning an 06 ZZR600. I purchased a used one as my first bike at the age of 19. With no previous experience I rode it round the block a few times and a few days later I took the MSF and I was ON THE ROAD the following day with just about full confidence. I rode that bike for 8 months totalling in at about 12k ish miles. No wrecks or near wrecks, just 2 driveway mishaps. Keep in mind the Suzuki weighs in at 476 DRY while the Kaw weighs in at 377 DRY. I'll take the lighter bike please! For me, it was a great starter bike, but people learn at different levels, and have different levels of respect for motorcycles. You control the throttle!

IMO, I say get a used ZZR600 or 98-02 Ninja ZX-6R

Hope that helps

-Gary
