relaxed steering geometry makes the bike more stabile at slow speeds, cuz thats where most street riders live

Yeah, i've been thinking about the Sv650 vs SV650S. For highway commutes of 30 miles and 70 mph winds etc I'm thinking the S is a great deal to deal with wind buffeting better... but the geometry of clip ons is new to me. I'm used to squeezing through traffic with nary a worry, a SV compared to my ninja would be a lot less nimble at lower speeds.... I'll have to watch out!

i never took any gay MSF course and i started on a 750 gixxer. i must be a fcking superhero or something cause the closest i have ever come to wrecking is i slipped in some oil in a parking spot as i was putting my kickstand down. would have never happened though had i been on a 2fiddy.
No, but a fresh newb is much more likely to get hurt on a 600 than a 250 as a first bike. It shouldn't be much of a concept to understand... but then reading later posts, it sounds like your not much but a track monkey.

Holy shnikies while all this was going on I rode almost 300 miles and took off my rear tire.

To the OP get what you want... As long as it is a ninja 250. (After reading all that and wiping the blood from my eyes you knuckleheads convinced me)

Been riding dirtbikes all my life. My first sportbike is an RC51. I really think it depends on the person. I probably shouldnt have gotten a 1000 for my first bike but I respect it. 99% of newb riders won't.

There's got to be someone in the insurance business that would be willing to quote us some numbers just to make this point once and for all.

not to these guys that think anyone can/should start on a 600 with nothing but "respect" for the bike.

Hard numbers ... percentage of accidents/fatalities and what not.
