cyclegear tyre change?

I've had CG mount my tyres for a while, but if I tell them to NOT take my old ones and dispose of them, do you think they'd not charge me the disposal fee?

I got my new bridgestones in today so I'll be huffin that rear wheel off and on this weekend. My local car tyre shop I used to pay like 10 bucks to mount them on isn't a viable option anymore. :( CG charges you for EVERYTHING, and I've generally always purchased the tyres there at the store, but this time I can't because they don't carry these new 'stones. Anyone have experience with CG mounting tyres that you didn't buy thru them? I know dealers are major idiots when it comes to having them mount a tyre that you didn't purchase from them at their ungodly usury rate (they wanted 240 bucks for a mounted, PP I almost fell off my chair).

yes, for the time being, someone MAY want to buy them from me, they're only slightly used. I did that with a set of PP's once. Threw em on, tried em, had em wash out on me (after they were broken and scrubbed in), yanked em off, sold em for 75 bucks for the pair. They had about 240 miles on them.

Have Motorcycles Unlimited do the tire change. From what I've read, they don't have a problem with you bringing in other tires, and you're still treated with respect.

Motorcycles Unlimited, I may try them. I've only gone there once and that was to have my suspension adjusted, I think I need to have it re-adjusted as I think it's too soft.

I've kept my tyres before and they still charge me the fee.

Used tyres are good for setting your wheels on so that the rim or rotor doesn't touch the ground.

That video was sweet! I'm going to try it...By the way, Motorcycles Unlimited charges $15/tire or $18 if you call it a "tyre". Cycle gear is $30 for tires not bought from them and $20 if bought from them.

that was hilarious...
when I was still in the military, that's how we got the rims off whenever our machine was out of service. of course, those had much more rubber to drive on

yes I take my rotors off, all three. I don't want the tyre jockey warping them when they are trying to muscle them on and off the tyre jig. An extra 2 minutes taking them off is worth it to not have to worry about warping a rotor.
