Question I want to start on the motard world

Thinking of it, the first question arises...
Which want would be better for both worlds (track and street) a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke??

I would like to race mini since is close (Katy) and less upfront investment... in that way I get to taste for racing... But CMRA is out of my league anyways... for now
I'm trying to get an idea of how much will be the initial amount of money to make it a tard... I'm guessing around 2 grands including the bike.

I just started this year with TMGP. We took my old XR100. You can find them all day long for under 1K. As a matter of fact, I recently picked one up for a friend of mine already converted for $600. It needed some work, but not much. With mine, we first added a larger drum brake set up and 16 inch tires for not much cash. I still have the larger drum set up if you are interested. Later, we then added a CR80 front end for disc brakes and 17 inch rim, which wasn't that much.

The Formula 7 class is a good start IMO. It's the slowest class out there, but it allows you time to get used to it all. The other classes will be zipping by you, but they all are pretty good to pass clean. It has been cheap and more fun that I expected. There is a really good group of people out there having a good time.

We are out there just to have fun and see if we can hang with doing all the races this year. If we manage to succesfully do that, we may start looking at some more serious performance mods. At this point, even if the bike was faster, we aren't (although we are getting faster).

If you look around and are patient, xr100's already somewhat set up are always popping up for fairly cheap.
