Motorcyclist Guilty In Trooper's Death

A motorcyclist, whose race with a sports car on Interstate 4 led to a Florida Highway Patrol trooper's fatal crash, was convicted of aggravated manslaughter by a jury Tuesday.

Donald Williams was also convicted of vehicular homicide and fleeing and eluding a lawenforcement officer in causing the death of 49-year-old Trooper Darryl Haywood on Oct. 2, 2004. The jury deliberated for three hours, the Orlando Sentinel reported

why's that?

and the circumstance to this should also make a few people think. from reports the LEO only saw the biker flash by, did a Uiee, but never really "engaged" the bike, was getting up to speed, blew a tire, crashed, died. many argue that it wasn't the bikers' fault..........guess the public disagreed.

what i want to know is that how does a trained proffesional loose control of a vehicle in daylight with clear sky. He must of thought he is a speed racer.

Sadly he had to find out the hard way. lol :laughing6

whose tire the rider's or the cop's?

It must be one heck of a big human size nail because cars can have nails in each tire and go past 100mph.

lol

i was going to work, my lug nuts came loose and the tire flew.
I blame the work, because had i not been going there i wouldn't of had the tire fall out.

Oh lawsuit. I think i'm hurt.

We are living in a society where nobody takes personal responsiblity for themselves. Everyone wants to blame someone else for their actions. Why not blame the person that left the nail there. How about going after the manufacturer of the nail, or the tire. How about the county because they own the roads. Etc. It's gotten so bad that now people are sueing restaurants for their fat . Nobody twisted their arms to shove loads of food down their pie hole.

In this case it was simply a case of 'sheeet happens'. Nobody's fault. The bike rider got screwed if he really didn't even know the cop was back there. He didn't have intent to evade. What if it had been a soccer mom in the minivan going by at 70 in a 60 and LEO decided to catch her quickly (as they usually do) and hit the nail and died. Would mom be up on manslaughter charges?
