New.. well more or less

Greetings,

I'm new to Mhouston and a bit new to sportbikes.. I've ridden ninjas (of different CC's) off/on for years but have just really been bitten by the bug as of late.

In the name of sanity and keeping myself alive, I'm going to take my MSF, get my proper gear, and take everything very slow. I've read the code books, have lurked on several forums for years, and have several co-workers that ride so it was natural that I wanted to throw my leg over a bike and get mobile.

I live in the Galleria area, so traffic is a major mess and not conducive to a newer rider, though I do have areas in which to practice and that are much calmer.

I've read the horror stories of these kids starting off with superbikes and exercising extreme stupidity. While I don't intend to buy a Busa or anything like that as my first full-time bike, I will probably go with a CBR f4i (if I can find one) or a 600RR as I've ridden these in my infancy and felt pretty comfortable in comparison to the GSXR 6 or the R6.

I'd been riding a ninja 250 off/on for about 3 years but finally sold it as I was not using it and lost my for bikes.

I'm hoping to meet new friends and have some people to ride with once I get my skills up to par. I'm not rushing anything whatsoever, but honestly I like the camaraderie I see in the scene. I hit starbucks almost every fri/sat on post oak and I see tons of people and I just want to say hi and hang out, but driving a sports car does not equate to a sport bike

Anyways.. just looking to meet new friends and hopefully some ride partners in the area who can take me under their wing and won't leave me at the end of the train...

Oh.. if anyone knows of a good source to find myself a good used bike, please lay it on me!

Thanks!

-Jaems
