ISO information on Houston toll roads...

I see bikes ride by the EZ tag lane all the time.
Is this like the HOV? Bikes are exempt?
Or do you just keep the tags tucked?
I don't see ANYTHING about bikes on their website.

Thanks in advance,

you have to pay a toll on the the toll roads just like cars. you can have an ez tag for your bikes, i have 4 (2 cars, 2 bikes). i keep my tags in my jacket pocket.

if they get your license plate for running a toll via camera its a $17 fine, per offense

if a cop pulls you over, it goes to over $200.........

You have to go to a tolltag store and get one. I have one but I dont think money gets deducted every time...I have it in the trunk and it probably doesnt read properly. oh well, I'm registered at least. Been doing this for over a year on westpark tollway with no problems.

If you want to be able to go through toll gates you would need to put it in a more conspicuous location towards the front of the bike. Most guys put it on their wind screen.

yeah they're supposed to have an ex tag... i have been on the westpark tollway a countless number of times with my bike and i have never gotten a ticket. i think it might be becuase my plate is tucked up a little under my bike and the cameras are shooting from above you.

Split the lanes and the sensor doesn't even know you went through.

You are correct on that one. I am friends w/ a Harris Co. Sherrif's Deputy (cycle cop) who also owns a CBR1000RR for fun rides. He verified for me that lane splitting the EZ tag lane will not pick you up. However, he also said that cops have no patience for that bullshit. And he will write you up for every possible thing he can if he catches you. He also told me that he (and just about every cop he knows) gives no leniency to guys w/ licence plates tucked up under the tail or ones that aren't clearly visible. He said it's pretty much generalized between cops that "all guys w/ plates tucked up under the tail are going to run." Yes, that is an incorrect assumption, but why do something like that to draw more unnecessary attention to you. Just my twocents
