Another reason, though not as valid, is sunlight can degrade the fluid. BUT you should change it out before that happens. Also, you don't want to get brake fluid on your nice plastic ferrings or windshield. Can you say bubbles?

here's my brake fluid resivoir cover:

PC230347

Also heard that keeping sun off the fluid helps keep it from breaking down prematurely. Dunno if it's 100% true or not, but why not!

thats the reason I got one for mine (heard that sunlight degrades brake fluid), plus it looks cool and was only $2.00.

I didnt have one on at the time of my high side and dumped brake fluid all over oak hill. Oh well tracks a POS ne ways i later proceeded to take a leak all over the track. Moral of the story is that i now have one and its a cool pink color and it is good for another 5 HP and 2 seconds at any track.
