I have been looking for a bike from an individual for about a month. Everytime i go and look at one, something is wrong that they failed to mention. I would have to finance about 40% of a $6500 bike, but at least I know it's going to come with somewhat of a warranty.

I think if you keep looking you will find the right one. Ya just can't get impatient. I found my 06 with 1300 miles. I wasn't worried about needing some kind of a warranty. Not with those miles.

Plus..and I know it's not ethical, but you can pay a $10 gift tax from an individual and that'll save ya big tax money. AT the dealership ya gotta pay all the sales tax. I don't even know what it is now, been so long. What 6.25%? On 6500 thats several hundred dollars.

You probably know all this though.

That's a felony charge plus, now, you have to pay for the value of the bike even if you got it for free.

That's a fair price for getting it at a reputable place.

if you don't have full cash, I guess you have no choice but to take it in a little. Especially now is the primetime of powersport and gas prices.

Since when? Have they changed the gift tax law in the last 6 months?

My apology. Gift tax is different but sale price don't matter anymore. As long as you have $1 as sale, it would go as the value of the vehicle.

Go to a credit union and establish a loan before you seek out a bike from an individual... granted you wont have a warranty.

Or go to a consignment/restoration shop like North City Cycles(they have an online website w all their bikes posted.) They do a look over, inspection, offer financing and variable warranties. You may pay a little more but you'll get your warranty. I bought my busa from them and wasn't first bike... My warranty is for 3 or 5 yrs, I don't remember and used it already for a fuel pump; paid for itself already and didn't keep my bike overnight, they got it right out.http://www.northcitycycle.com/posts/...ist&clearoff=1
