Well, all of you have your own reaons to ride. I wasnt trying to push track on to anybody here. I do ride the street 99% of the time. I would love to get more seat time on the track but like a lot of peeps I dont have time or money or both.

The main thing was- where is Ownage?

Diddo. i'd LOVE to do a trackday, but as my only form of transportation, WHEN i crash sometime as a newb, it would be the same as taking my commuting civic to the drag strip and then be shocked when I blow the transmission and can't get to work!

Difference is the gear nazis are actually trying to save you some pain.

And it is your choice.

gear nazis get on my nerves. not the ones that say you should be wearing gear, but the ones that go to such an extreme as to say what gear you wear isnt good enough. i used to get blasted on SBN on my vids for not wearing full leathers everytime i turned the key.

That's no lie!
I gotta admit I was skeered of that senario when I went simply due to the fact this is my primary form of entertainment, but it was easy to keep control once you do a lap or two.
My biggist concern was getting wadded up with traffic, and we are back to riding the streets when that variable becomes obvious.
(Of course that was my fault again) Sorry guys!

Agreed!

BUT!
If I had the money to live on the track I would!

I don't tell people how they should be riding there bikes, everyone is different. Some like cruising, others drag racing, some ride the freeway, others like to get off-road and the list goes on.

However, guys that do have SS bikes, I do try and encourage those folks to try a trackday so they can have possibly the most fun on their bike and experience the potential that they and their bikes have.

Ride 1/2 and work 1/2...
Rent some leathers and boots ($50-$100max) or borrow them...
You only need decent street tires (BT014, Corsa, Corsa III, Pilot Powers, etc) like what you probably already have...

Total cost should be $0-$100max

You really should try it ONCE... IMHO.

Not everyone out there runs race tires w/ warmers and has a fully tuned/equipped bike running race fuel. Actually, those guys are the minority. Check it out, you just might like it...

Why not....???

Street is more challenging...!!!! If you just want to live in your fantasy world that is the track day and dream about being Hayden, Rossi or any of the MotoGP champions that's OK.

What I do not understand is the people trying to convince me about doing a track day where I'll be hooked and never ride in the street again...!!!!

I prefer to ride in the real world...!!! Besides doing only track days seems kinda expensive like someone else mentioned before.

Commuting every day in the bike allows me to save money in gas and save time. (HOV lane)

Thanks but no thanks.

I plan on trying it out hopefully before the end of the year. The wedding has taken all of my money up until now.

I have boots and even pants (2 piece leathers). I need to get a back tire and a ride to the track when I decide to go. My fiancee has already stated she'd cornerwork for me for track day credits!

Basically, just need time time time...

and nothing wrong with that dude, i see your point, but some ppl dont understand that streets have their fun too

the majority of the ppl that say is dangerous are the same ppl that do triple digits

in my case i enjoy the streets as it is , know the risks, thats why i gear up and keep it real

i might do a trackday soon, but i dont think ill leave the streets too

to each his own

I certainly don't ride a lot at the track, and I certainly don't expect to ever be like Rossi. But when I have the time, and funds (which are usually available) I'll do a track day. I get full enjoyment just from knowing I legally and tremendously improved my riding skills. Then I'll be more comfortabe to use what I learned while riding on the street, just a lil less speed, thats all. No regrets from ever doing a track day!
