I worry about other people all the time. My kids and I have driven up on a dead rider, and it's not fun.

If you are too hot in your gear, you have the wrong gear. It takes most people one good road rash experience and then they realize that gear is a GOOD thing.

I don't ride with people that won't wear the basic gear.. I figure if they don't care for themselves, how much can they care for those around them?

+1 I borrowed my nephew's mesh body protector- even it was hot. When you're riding in direct sunlight, then you're going to be hot. So, I went back to riding with my perforated leather, because I figured it was safer. Also, I wear leather gloves with armor- I like my skin. I guess if I'm going to be hot, I may as well be safe.

Moving on;

I always wear my jacket and helmet... gloves.... on a casual ride I may not but I bring them. I will be found in jeans alot though. If we're riding at any type of a spirited pace I'll trade out for lower leathers as well.

I've gone lately without a jacket most of the time. Sure it's gonna suck if I hit the ground, but lets hope it doesn't happen. To me, it's all about the person acceptable level of risk, and obviously, it varies person to person. Sure it's more dangerous, but so is riding a motorcycle in the first place. Who'se to say you acceptable level is the right one, and not the next guys?

You don't pay other people's medical expenses. This is not canada. And if you think that raises your insurance then I would like to limit the amount of food your fat kids put in their mouths or the amount of booze you consume or the number of cigarettes you smoke. Get over yourselves.

This topic is like a dead horse....beat it all you want, it'll still be dead.

People are gonna do whatever the **** they want to do, regardless of how much you at them. Those that wear full gear, congrats. Those that choose not too, congrats. Both groups have made a decision.

Look at it this way, gear is like the speed limit, some people obey it (read: wear gear) and some people don't (read: don't wear gear)

It's their choice. It's your choice. all you want on either side of the fence, but nothing will change. There will ALWAYS be those that wear gear and those that do not. So please, for ****'s sake, stop the useless threads.

I have been riding for sometime now. I wear my gear, jaket, jeans, alpine star boots, gloves helmet everytime i ride. I dont want to see my skin ripped off if i go down. My son will not leave the house without full gear on as well. even if he is going around the block. If people choose to wear their gear good for you, if not oh well, its gonna hurt when they have to scrub you in the hospital, i have seen it.. it sucks

And you think someone with no insurance gets all those skin graffs and everything on our dollar if at all... well then i'll just cancel my insurance and let you pay next time I need to visit the hospital. Most hospitals that give care to illegals or whomever doesn't have insurance and can't pay cash do it through programs. These programs are paid for through donations not your insurance.

since when? why do you think an asprinin cost $10 vs $.50?

it's to pay for those W/O ins. illegals and un-insured motorcyclist are all the same as far as hospitals are concerned.

skin grafts are cosmetic, that i can see as a donation

keeping em alive isn't and thats the part "we" as society pay.

TRUE, but don't think that somehow we as society don't pay for fixing em up, cuz we do.

I think you're on to something. Although, the $10 aspirin probably has a lot to do with drug companies and their profits. I guess I can thank my employer for my benefits package cause I don't pay for .

I just don't get it as an argument for about people wearing gear. I remember a previous thread that discussed the amount of $ motorcyle injuries cost and when it comes down to it it's almost negligable. I can think of a lot more ways to save myself money than to about some d'bag wearing no helmet, or the fat in front of me at mcdonald's.

go ask BDMTX what his bills were, i bet close to $1/2mil. if you call that negligible. i'd like to see your paystub.

i have ins. also, but it would be cheaper if we didn't have to pay to fix people M/C or not.

you can blame drug co's. but hospitals are closing shop more from fixing un-insured people then drug cost.
