You are a very smart man

You dont have to wait too long, just learn the streets in the car and get used to traffic. If you have enough money from working or from your parents you should save and then consider getting a cheap used bike like others have said, 250 is good choice. a used bike you can just put liability insurance on it which will considerably lower your cost. MSF. Track days. Street riding. Pick your path and go with it.

I envy you, I didnt start riding until I was in my mid 20's :BangHead:
Good luck.

have you asked your parents? cuz they are gonna have to sign off on you taking the www.msf-usa.org class , and you'll have to take it to get your license.

also insurance is a HUGE concern.......many people can afford the bike, but not the insurance, so before you get your hopes too high, you should really check that also.......

Just make sure your mom understands all the potential outcomes of letting a 16 year old get a sportbike...

You should get a small track bike and come ride with us out there. Also, check out TMGP. I would have killed to have been able to get into sport bikes at your age and going this route is a good way to start with out getting yourself killed by an idiot driver or guard rail.

A few links to check out:

Also drop into the Racers Lounge and look at some of the pics from previous events. It is the most fun somebody can have without getting arrested. And, I was blown away by the fact I was doing 140mph and not being chased down by a cop.
